WHO- Am I?
- My Nursing Career crosses a span of 30 + years. During this time, I have worked in a variety of care environments. I have taught informally prior to pursuing a graduate degree; Masters in Nursing Education.
- I was initially trained as a Diploma nurse, yet that was extended over a three-year period with extended classroom hours, immediately followed by extensive clinical reinforcement.
- My career served patients across the lifespan and in every level of care
- In recent times, I have worked closely with students in accelerated programs, many for whom English was a second language. Within the accelerated program I have taught several didactic and clinical classes/courses and have received a better understanding of the formation of test questions and The NCLEX Tests-Plan.
- This knowledge has led to increased personal investment in teaching tools to help the struggling learner. Understanding that my students come from a variety of learning styles and preferences enables me to use that knowledge to best meet the learner’s needs. This individualized learning plan is not often available or possible in a large classroom that moves at a rapid pace.
- Additionally, my formal Masters Level Education included instruction in developing and evaluating educational Programs, Practicum development and delivery, with emphasis on learner preferences and scaffolding strategies to promote Learner preparedness and development.
